The Police in Osun have arrested a commercial bus driver, Olalekan Amos, 54, for allegedly stealing three sound amplifiers worth N4.5 million, which he was supposed to deliver to a customer.
SP Yemisi Opalola, the Police Spokesperson in Osun, made this known during the parade of criminal suspects at the state police headquarters in Osogbo.
According to Opalola, a complainant in Edo State reported that in March, he hired Amos to deliver three amplifiers, each worth N1.5 million, to a customer in Osogbo.

“The complainant knew the suspect as a commercial bus driver who plies the Benin (Edo State) to Osogbo (Osun State) route, so he employed his services to deliver the amplifiers,” Opalola said.
“However, the amplifiers were not delivered as agreed, and the driver became unreachable.”
Opalola stated that following the report, the Police Anti-Cultism Unit had been on the suspect’s trail and eventually arrested him in Osogbo on Thursday.
During interrogation, Amos confessed to selling the three amplifiers for N75,000, at a rate of N25,000 each. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the buyer and recover the amplifiers.
The spokesperson added that the suspect would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
In related news, Opalola reported that five suspects were arrested for conspiracy and armed robbery at Agunbelewo/Halleluyah Estate Area, Osogbo, in April.
Additionally, three others were apprehended in June for armed robbery and the theft of a motorcycle in Ilesa.
She also mentioned that two suspects were arrested for breaking into a shop in Ode-Omu Town, while a driver of a Toyota Corolla was arrested at Ikire on the Ife/Ibadan Expressway after stolen items and weapons were found in his vehicle following the escape of his three passengers.
Another suspect, a serving NYSC member, was paraded in connection with the abduction of two persons in August 2023 in Ede Town.
The suspect was accused of masterminding the abduction and extorting a N2.6 million ransom from the victims.
Opalola concluded that all suspects would be charged to court after the completion of investigations.
She also warned cult members planning to celebrate their group’s founders’ day on July 7 in the state to abandon their plans, stating that the law would catch up with them.
