The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a man, identified as Saidi, for the alleged murder of his father, known as Bale, at his farm in Ilusi, Osun State.
The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun, Yemisi Opalola, verified the arrest, stating that an investigation is underway.
“The suspect was arrested on the suspicion that he killed his father. I have been briefed about it, and investigation is ongoing,” Opalola disclosed.
Sources revealed that Saidi allegedly decapitated Bale on his farm on the day he was to begin harvesting his produce.
The community was alerted after Bale went missing for several hours, prompting a search.
A resident, identified as Sakariyau, shared that Bale was last seen on Thursday, heading to his farm. “We searched the village but could not find him. On Friday, we located his remains on the farm, covered with leaves. His head had been severed,” Sakariyau recounted.
Villagers reportedly became suspicious of Saidi, who had accompanied his father to the farm that day. Witnesses claimed Saidi initially denied involvement but later admitted to the crime after intense questioning from the locals.
The deceased’s harvested cocoa produce and his motorcycle were found at the scene. Following his confession, Saidi was handed over to the police and transferred to the Iperindo station for further investigation.
