An Oyo State High Court has ordered the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its National Chairman, Umar Damagum, to proceed with the party’s national convention scheduled for November 15 in Ibadan.
The presiding judge, Justice A.L. Akintola, issued the directive on Thursday following an ex parte application filed by Folahan Malomo Adelabi, an aspirant for the position of Deputy National Organizing Secretary of the party.

In suit No. I/1336/2025, the court restrained the PDP, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and other respondents from taking any action that could truncate, frustrate, or stop the planned national convention.
Justice Akintola further ordered INEC to deploy monitors and observers to the convention to ensure full compliance with the Electoral Act and uphold the transparency and legitimacy of the process.
The court also directed Umaru Ahmadu Fintiri, Chairman of the National Convention Organizing Committee (NCOC), to proceed with all necessary arrangements for the exercise.
The ruling comes just days after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued an order stopping the PDP from holding its convention, creating a legal tussle over the fate of the party’s upcoming event.
