The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is currently holding a crucial closed-door meeting at the Bauchi Governor’s Lodge in Abuja to address mounting internal tensions within the party.
Sources say the emergency meeting is centered on recent controversies surrounding the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, who has withdrawn from ongoing peace and reconciliation talks.
Wike reportedly accused top party leaders, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde, of dishonesty and insincerity in handling internal disputes.

InfoStride News gathered that the BoT is also deliberating on the closure of the PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, by the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA). The secretariat was sealed on Monday over the party’s alleged failure to pay ground rent for 28 years.
The shutdown has compelled the PDP to temporarily relocate its administrative operations to the Bauchi Lodge — a development seen as symbolic of the party’s deepening internal crisis.
In response to the escalating tensions, the BoT is considering postponing the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting originally slated for Tuesday. Party insiders suggest the move would allow for further consultations and reconciliation before proceeding with broader decisions.
Tensions within the PDP intensified over the weekend following Wike’s public denunciation of the party’s peace process, fueling speculation about growing divisions and uncertainty over the party’s future direction.
Key party stakeholders attending the meeting include Acting National Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum; Governors Peter Mbah (Enugu), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Caleb Mutfwang (Plateau), Douye Diri (Bayelsa), and Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), who also chairs the PDP Governors’ Forum.
Other notable figures present are Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal; former Senate President Bukola Saraki; PDP BoT member Ben Obi; retired Navy Commodore Olabode George; ex-Information Minister Jerry Gana; former Niger State Governor Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu; former PDP Ministers’ Forum Chair Kabiru Tanimu Turaki; and ex-Minister of Women Affairs Josephine Anenih.
The outcome of the meeting is expected to determine the next steps in the party’s efforts to restore unity and reassert stability ahead of future elections.
