The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has rejected Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani’s claim that the administration of his predecessor, Nasir El-Rufai, left the state with monthly debt deductions of N6.7 billion.
The PDP dismissed the governor’s allegation, questioning the basis of the claim and accusing the All Progressives Congress, APC-led administration of attempting to shift responsibility for the state’s financial challenges.
The party said the debt situation should be subjected to proper scrutiny, with relevant records made available to the public.
It urged the Kaduna State Government to provide details of the loans, repayment arrangements and deductions it attributed to the previous administration.
The PDP maintained that political leaders should be held accountable for their actions and decisions based on verifiable facts rather than allegations.
The party also called on the governor to focus on addressing the challenges facing residents instead of engaging in blame games with his predecessor.
The controversy comes amid renewed political activities in Kaduna State and across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
