In a decisive move, the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaiama Ward 1, Kaiama Local Government, Kwara South Senatorial District, has officially expelled the suspended Youth Leader, Prince Haliru Mahmud Dantsoho, from the party.
A letter dated 11th December 2023, bearing the signatures of the Ward Chairman, Mohammed Nurudeen, and 16 out of 17 executive ward members, outlined the reasons behind Dantsoho’s expulsion.
The primary charge against him was gross misconduct, particularly for disseminating unsubstantiated allegations against the party leadership through videos circulated on social media.
The letter, titled ‘Expulsion From The Peoples Democratic Party As a Result of Your Act of Gross Misconduct Arising From Your Video Releases of 7th Day of December, 2023,’ stated, “Consequently, a query was issued and was duly served on you to the effect that your conduct, and statements in the two videos which you circulated widely on different social media platforms, run foul of the provisions of sections 58(1) (b) (f), (h), and (s) (1) of the PDP constitution 2017 (as amended).”
Despite a query and the establishment of a Disciplinary Committee, Dantsoho allegedly failed to appear and present his defense, leading to the conclusion that he was guilty of serious misconduct by the provisions of the PDP Constitution.
The expulsion, effective from the 11th day of December 2023, was executed in accordance with S.59 (i) (g) of the Peoples Democratic Party constitution, stripping Dantsoho of all rights as a member and as an official of the Peoples Democratic Party.
In response to his expulsion, Dantsoho claimed to have preemptively resigned from the party, stating, “I had already sent my resignation letter from the party this morning before the expulsion was made.”
