Senator Samuel Anyanwu, National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has insisted that until Owerri zone is allowed to be at par in the governance of the state like her Orlu and Okigwe zones counterparts, the message of unity will be viewed as deceitful and meaningless.
Anyanwu described the recent 4th annual Egbu declaration as an expression of people’s firm belief in equity, justice and fairness for good governance in the state.
While charging the people to remain formidable in their bid to enthrone political sanity in 2023, he also appealed to leaders from other zones to key into the vision championed by the Owerri zone.
The PDP chieftain stated this in a release signed by his media adviser, Ikenna Onuoha and made available to the media on Sunday in Owerri, Imo State capital.
Anyanwu who was a member of the 8th Senate who represented Imo East Senatorial District under the PDP said when injustice, lack of equity and fair play are the order of the day in a state supposedly owned by the entire Imo people, the quest for good governance becomes a mirage”
The Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party appealed to political leaders to take decision that will guarantee equity, justice and fairness in the political arrangements of the state, expressing optimism that such step is capable of engendering socio-economic development and inter-zonal cooperations.
Anyanwu commended the organizers from Owerri zone in particular and Imo people at large for taking such a bold step aimed at changing political direction in 2023.
He urged Imo people to join the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), maintaining that the party remains the only credible alternative that can guarantee political freedom in the state, South East and Nigeria in general.
