Former spokesperson of the Labour Party, Kenneth Okonkwo, has claimed that leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have become subordinates to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking on Channels Television on Friday, Okonkwo attributed the PDP’s internal crisis to its own leadership decisions, particularly the appointment of Nyesom Wike as Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by the APC-led government.
According to the Nollywood actor-turned-politician, President Bola Tinubu’s decision to appoint Wike weakened the PDP’s political standing as an opposition party.

“Look at what is going on in the PDP. Some people came out as the G5 and openly worked against the party’s interest in the 2023 elections.
Instead of holding them accountable, the PDP accommodated them and made excuses for their actions,” Okonkwo stated.
He further warned that the party’s failure to address this issue had emboldened those members to attempt a takeover.
“Now, they have been given appointments, and they will go ahead to hijack the party. When that happens, the true members of the PDP will become subordinates.
Their leader is now a servant to the APC as a minister, and the rest of them are servants to that leader—making the PDP a servant of servants to the APC,” he added.
