The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Akwa Ibom State has denied reports that its political structure in the state is being collapsed into the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party described the claim as false and misleading, insisting that the PDP remains a strong political force in the state.
The Akwa Ibom PDP urged its members and supporters to disregard reports suggesting that the party was planning to surrender its structure to the ruling APC.
The party maintained that its leadership remained committed to strengthening the PDP and mobilising its members ahead of the 2027 elections.
It also called on party members to remain united and focused, warning against rumours capable of creating confusion within its ranks.
The PDP said it would continue to engage with stakeholders and work towards protecting the interests of its members and supporters across the state.
The clarification comes amid ongoing political realignments and defections involving politicians and political groups ahead of the 2027 general elections.
