The Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has surprisingly thrown its weight behind President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition in the 2027 general elections.
The party’s state chairman, Abayomi Tella, made this known during the official campaign flag-off of Bolarinwa Oluwole, the PDP candidate for Remo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Speaking at the event, Tella said the party was ready to support Tinubu despite him being from a different party.

He stressed that the President is a son of the South-West, hence the decision to give him their votes.
“We will support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Though he is in the opposition, let us support our own from the South-West. Our support is for Tinubu and we will stand by him. We are ready to give him our votes. The whole of the South-West will give him our votes,” Tella said.
The party’s 2023 gubernatorial candidate, Ladi Adebutu, also echoed similar sentiments.
Adebutu maintained that the PDP has no issue with Tinubu’s leadership and candidacy, but rather with bad governance in Ogun State.
“I was with the President in January and I told him that we have no issue with his leadership and candidacy. We however have issue with bad governance in Ogun State, that is why we must have this platform to challenge bad governance,” Adebutu said.
