The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it will actively participate in the 2027 general elections despite its ongoing leadership crisis.
A chieftain of the party, Sam Ohuabunwa, made this known on Sunday during an interview on Arise Television.
According to him, the party remains focused on rebuilding its structure amid internal challenges.

“A Supreme Court judgment will decide the fate of the PDP, but for now, the party is trying to rebuild,” he said.
Ohuabunwa noted that the PDP has faced significant internal disruptions since 2022, citing clashing interests, persistent conflicts, and leadership issues.
“The PDP has been battered from 2022 to date by clashing interests, internal conflict, and a lack of leadership,” he stated.
He added that the Court of Appeal has already recognised a leadership structure within the party, expressing optimism that it would present candidates for the 2027 elections.
“The Appeal Court has recognised a leadership structure in the party, and we expect them to present candidates for the 2027 election,” he said.
Ohuabunwa, however, stressed the need for unity, warning that the party cannot afford to descend into chaos while awaiting a final decision from the Supreme Court.
“Until the Supreme Court rules on this matter, the PDP cannot afford to let anarchy destroy the party,” he added.
