The statement by National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh that President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress needs prayers from Nigerians to be able to deliver, has been described as a defeatist reaction.
The former ruling party had while taking stock of the APC-led government at the centre, said it had been all motion, but no movement in the last 30 days.
Former APC Interim National Vice Chairman, North-East, Engr. Umar Duhu made the comment in Abuja on Monday.
The APC chieftain said it is unfortunate that the PDP spokesperson has forgotten so quickly how his party ruled Nigeria for 16 years, a period which he said Nigerians had it so rough as the country’s resources were stolen with impunity.
“This singular act of stealing with impunity, amongst many crimes of the PDP led government, has not only bastardized the nation’s resources and brought it to comatose, but brought hatred to Nigerian Nation before the international community and the friends of Nigeria.
“President Buhari’s emergence as Nigeria’s President must indeed be celebrated as Blessings from God The Almighty as the Messiah that we all have yearned for, rather than talking shamelessly from the both sides of the mouth, challenging the Will of God, without recourse to the bad antecedence foisted on Nigerian by the PDP led government for close to 2 decades”, Duhu said in a statement.
He quoted Metuh in a statement on Sunday saying that, “President Muhammadu Buhari has done virtually nothing during his first 30 days in office”, saying it was a defeatist postulation which signifies nothing.
