Speaking against the backdrop of the violence that has engulfed the state in last few days as a result of an attempt by the APC lawmakers to impeach the State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, the people advised the lawmakers to take caution.
In a peaceful protest round the street of Ado-Ekiti and the Governor’s office, Igbemo people led by a chief, the Onisara of Igbemo, Chief Agamago Adetunji expressed their support for the governor.
They dissociated themselves from activities of one of their prominent sons and a chieftain of the APC in recent time, saying he was not acting on behalf of the town, noting that the town voted en-mass for the governor and was ready to support him always.
While addressing the protesters, the Governor, represented by his deputy, Dr Kolapo Olusola expressed the appreciation of the government to different people in the state who had stood up to protect the mandate freely given to the governor.
He commended Igbemo people for the timely effort made at calling their son to order over his inflammatory statements since the announcement of the presidential election results.
The deputy governor charged the people of the state to remain calm and maintain peace in the face of the current challenge, saying the will of the people will prevail.
