Houston, 27 March – Petrotechnics, the global leader in transforming frontline operational performance and lowering operational risk, will address process safety management leaders at the 10th Global Congress on Process Safety on how technology can be used to improve the management of operational risk.

Held at the Hilton Hotel in New Orleans from 30th March- 2nd April, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE) event, is one of the world’s largest gathering of process safety experts attracting over 1500 from across the world. Petrotechnics has been selected by the organizers to deliver four presentations at the event around Operational Risk Management.

Petrotechnics’ U.S president, Mike Neill’s main presentation on Tuesday 1st April at 9am will explore how new software technology can enhance decision making through a common view of operational risk. With the visualization of dynamic real time operational risk, a better understanding of the drivers of risk and impact of workload risk and Independent Protection Layers upon each other; organizations can better optimize how they manage workload against risk. In this way they can get more of the right work done safely and efficiently to improve asset integrity and keep people safe.

“What we’ve recognized, is that while Process Safety Management (PSM) has been a focus for a number of years, there’s certainly been a shift since Macondo. The emphasis on better managing our Independent Protection Layers (IPL’s) to get a more holistic understanding of operational risk in order to ensure such incidents never happen again, is becoming much more prevalent,” said Neill,. “Our series of presentations will address how new software technology can simplify the complex dynamics of operational risk in a way that provides organizations with a common way to understand and manage risk across functional departments. By intelligently capturing risk data and deploying the tools to proactively manage workload against risk, frontline workers and senior leaders are empowered to make better decisions around their operations; reduce operational risk and better maintain the asset integrity of the plant.”
