England manager, Gareth Southgate has come out to admit that fielding Trent Alexander-Arnold in midfield has been an experiment. He recently revealed that the nation lacks a replacement for Kalvin Phillips, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, he and his team of coaches are aware that playing Trent in midfield is a risky experiment, and the lack of a natural replacement for Kalvin Philips has cost England thus far.

Southgate added that the team is trying different things at the moment until a system to stick with is determined.
His words, “I wanted to get Conor on; we needed some energy and to press better. He’s (Alexander-Arnold) had some moments where he’s delivered what we thought he would. We know it’s an experiment. We know we don’t have a natural replacement for Kalvin Philips. We’re trying different things and at the moment we’re not flowing as we’d like.”
WOW.
