President Muhammadu Buhari will meet with elders from the Niger Delta region on October 29, 2016 in Abuja.
This is in-line with calls by some militant groups for a dialogue between representatives from the oil rich region and government.
According to Vanguard, Chief Edwin Clark might head the group which is known as, the Pan Niger Delta Forum (PNDF).
The Secretary of PNDF, Ledum Mitee, also confirmed that the President will be meeting with them.
A source also revealed that the Minister for state, Petroleum, Ibe Kachikwu, has been working with the Niger Delta elders to ensure the meeting comes to fruition.
The Co-chairmen of the Central Working Committee (CWC) of PNDF are the former Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Obong Victor Attah and the former military Governor of the defunct Rivers state, His Royal Majesty, King Alfred Diette-Spiff.
The Niger Delta Greenland Justice Mandate (NDGJM), recently accused the Federal Government and oil companies of insincerity.
They said this in a statement which they issued after bombing a crude oil facility in Delta state on Thursday, October 13, 2016.
