MANCHESTER UNITED star Paul Pogba must be more consistent next season, according to club legend Ryan Giggs.
Pogba arrived at Old Trafford from Juventus last summer for a world record fee of £89million.
The Frenchman received plenty of criticism for failing to live up to his price tag but he did help the Red Devils win three pieces of silverware under Jose Mourinho.
Giggs believes Pogba did not have a bad campaign and says if Manchester United start next term well, we will see a better player.
“Consistency (is what he must improve on),” Giggs said on ITV.
“Because he’s got everything, he can run box to box, he can score goals, he hit the crossbar something like nine or 10 times for United last season.
“If he can turn them into goals, there is another area he needs to improve. Just consistency, you never knew what you were going to get off him.
“Overall I was quite happy with his first season, of course he can do better but he’s come from Juventus where they win the league every year.
“He was in a team that was inconsistent throughout the season. If United hit the road running next year, you will see a new and improved Pogba.”
Giggs admits the price tag did affect Pogba early on but he appeared to shrug that off as the season went on.
“He was trying to do too much every time he got the ball so that may have been the price tag,” he added.
“It felt like that, especially early on in the season. As the season went on I think he got a little bit better where he realised he didn’t have to do something special every time he got the ball.”
