The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of a man identified as Obikoya Gbenga Adewale, who was found dead under circumstances suspected to be suicide in the Molode area of Sabo, Ijebu Ode.
The incident was said to have occurred on Saturday.
A viral video circulating on social media showed the lifeless body of the deceased, believed to be in his 40s, hanging outside a house in the community.

Voices heard in the video alleged that the deceased was not a resident of the house where his body was discovered.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, DSP Omolola Odutola, said the corpse had been evacuated and preserved for further examination.
She added that investigations had commenced to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.
According to the police spokesperson, “On Saturday, about 0840hrs, information was received that one Obikoya Gbenga Adewale (M), an adult male of Sabo Area, Ijebu Ode, was found dead in circumstances suspected to be suicide.
“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), accompanied by his team, visited the scene. Necessary documentation was carried out and photographs were taken in line with standard procedure.
“The body was preserved for further examination, while investigations have commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.”
The police spokesperson encouraged residents to prioritise their wellbeing, particularly mental health, and seek support when necessary.
She reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and promoting community wellbeing, urging residents to promptly reach out for help whenever they have concerns about loved ones.
