BuhariVictoryThe European Union Election Observer Mission has said Nigeria is in need of political will in order to witness an enhanced electoral process that will make the country experience complete democracy.

EU revealed this as part of its 30 recommendations made on the recent elections.

The Chief Observer of the mission, Maria Arena, said, “There is need for political will to improve the electoral process, as you know the process is always improvable. It is good for democracy.

Secondly, it is important for the process to begin as early as possible. You can say five years is a long time but when you start one year before the election it’s too late.

The last thing is to have inclusive methodology to work with Civil Society Organisations and all the stakeholders.”

EU also noted that the total number of women elected in this year’s polls was worse than before.
