At the University of Ilorin, located in Kwara State, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has recently put the finishing touches on 15 different construction projects.
Tinubu expressed his excitement over the university’s responsible handling of its resources through the Minister of State for Education, Yusuf Tanko Sununu.
Sununu was speaking on behalf of Tinubu.

Yusuf Tanko Sununu was the one to carry out the project commissioning on behalf of the president during the university’s 2023 convocation ceremonies. It was the highlight of those events.
The extension of the university clinic, the department of anatomy building, the extension of the university clinic, the department of chemical engineering building, the faculty of engineering 400-seater capacity studio, and the faculty of engineering 500-seater capacity studio were all commissioned projects, according to a statement that was made available to newsmen in Ilorin by the university’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Mr. Kunle Akogun.

Among others, there was the building of a road leading from the NOC to the Faculty of Arts and Law, as well as the building of a road leading to the university’s primary school.
During the ceremony to inaugurate the brand-new building that houses the department of chemical engineering, the president emphasized his contentment with the fact that all of the projects are not only significant but also required in order to facilitate efficient education and training.
He also expressed his satisfaction that the projects were excellently executed and thanked the Vice-Chancellor of Unilorin, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole, SAN, for ensuring that the projects meet quality standards. In addition, he expressed his delight that the projects were awarded.
To increase the likelihood of receiving funding from the university, he suggested making full use of the building, in particular the laboratories.
In his remarks before the commissioning, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Wahab Olasupo Egbewole (SAN), said, “Research and innovation are the lifeblood of the University of Ilorin, which currently has a total of 36 patents with the Federal Government, making the university one of the highest contributing institutions to patency in Nigeria.” Currently, the University of Ilorin has a total of 36 patents with the Federal Government.
In the pursuit of the university’s greatest potential, Professor Egbewole pledged that he would not sit back and relax.
