The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has assured residents of the FCT that President Bola Tinubu has instructed him to address their demands promptly.
Wike made this statement on Wednesday during the flag-off ceremony for the rehabilitation of the 10-kilometer Aguma Palace-Radio Nigeria-New Market Road in Gwagwalada Area Council.
The minister emphasized the FCT Administration’s (FCTA) commitment to ensuring that governance brings tangible benefits to residents, particularly through the development of infrastructure in the area councils.

Wike explained that the road project was selected based on inputs from stakeholders during a recent town hall meeting between the FCTA and representatives of the area councils.
“I told you that Mr. President has directed that we should give it to you, whatever you ask.
And today, by the special grace of God, one of the requests you made—the reconstruction of this important road segment—is being fulfilled,” Wike stated.
He assured residents that the project would not be abandoned, noting that it was awarded, flagged off, and scheduled for commissioning next year.
“This is not the era when contracts are awarded and abandoned. This contract will be completed and delivered as promised,” he said.
Wike also highlighted the administration’s focus on essential services rather than land allocation.
“Mr. President did not appoint the Hon. Minister of State and me to preside over the selling of land. We are here to provide roads, water, and other services that will improve your well-being.
“This is what we mean by government—government for the people, by the people, and of the people,” Wike added.
The rehabilitation project aims to enhance connectivity and improve infrastructure within the Gwagwalada Area Council, reflecting the FCTA’s focus on meeting the needs of the people.
