Amidst the 2024 Eid-el-Kabir celebration, which coincides with Father’s Day worldwide, President Bola Tinubu has paid tribute to fathers for their pivotal role in shaping the destiny of Nigeria.
In a statement by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu acknowledged the immense contributions of fathers through their sacrifices, forbearance, provision, protection, presence, and guidance of the young towards a noble and true path.
Reflecting on the origins of Father’s Day, the President noted its medieval beginnings and official roots in West Virginia, USA, where an event in 1908 commemorated 362 men who died in a coal mining explosion.

He emphasized the day’s significance as a moment to honor all fathers and paternal figures, both living and deceased.
President Tinubu highlighted that society benefits greatly from fathers who embrace their responsibilities, guide their children through life’s challenges, and instill timeless values that surpass material wealth.
He praised all fathers, both celebrated and unsung, who endure daily hardships to provide for their families, calling them true heroes.
The President urged fathers to remain steadfast in their commitment to positively shaping the destinies of future generations.
“I wish Nigerians a happy Father’s Day,” he said.
