The President of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Prof Dr Innocent Ujah accompanied by officials of the NMA reportedly paid a courtesy visit yesterday’ to the Speaker, of the Federal House of Representatives, Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila.
Professor Ujah thanked the Speaker for his unrelenting support to the Nigerian Medical Association and the medical profession. He as well commended the Chairman;Committee on Health Care Services, Hon Dr Tanko Yusuf Sununu for his support.
While speaking the NMA Preident stressed the need to improve health system in the country and the role of the association in collaborating with the government to contain the spread of the pandemic.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives thanked NMA for the courtesy visit and promised to continue to support the Nigerian Medical Association.
Mr Femi Gbajabiamila also promised to address key issues identified by the NMA President in his address and requested for an outline of the health sector from the NMA president.
According to the speaker, about N1.1 trillion naira has been set aside by the federal government to to the health sector in the 2021 Federal budget and that the central posting of House Officers will begin early next year.
