The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) has demanded an immediate, independent, and comprehensive forensic audit of the 2024 Budget.
Mohammed Ishaq, the acting National Publicity Secretary of the party, issued a statement emphasizing the need to uncover any instances of corruption, misappropriation, mismanagement, and unfairness between constituencies.
The PRP urged that the audit should be conducted by a reputable and neutral third-party organization, with the findings made public to enhance transparency and accountability in the country.

The statement also advocated for a complete overhaul of Nigeria’s budgetary system, including the implementation of strict guidelines to prevent undue influence on budgetary allocations, the establishment of a centralized database for tracking all budgetary processes, and the introduction of stringent penalties for any violation of these guidelines.
Additionally, the PRP strongly called for the cessation of constituency projects, citing their susceptibility to abuse, corruption, and unfair treatment of constituencies across the federation.
Regarding whistleblowing, the PRP criticized the actions of the Senate President and the entire Senate, describing them as morally wrong and legally offensive.
The party highlighted a case involving Senate President Akpabio, who was accused by Senator Ningi of wrongdoing.
Despite Ningi having the full protection of the Nigerian Constitution, Akpabio presided over the proceedings against him, leading to his suspension.
The PRP emphasized the importance of giving fair hearings to individuals accused of wrongdoing and called for corrective action to address identified wrongs in the budget as a means of initiating the fight against corruption in the country.
