CONTRACT TO WIRE THE SITE FOR THE PAVILIONS

Milan, 10-01-2014 Prysmian Group, world leader in the energy and telecom cables and systems industry, has been awarded a contract to wire the site hosting the services and structures of the Milan Universal Exposition, the so-called “Piastra” (core) of Expo 2015. The Group will supply special fire-safety and eco-friendly cables.

The site, next to the new Milan Trade Fair Complex located in Rho-Pero, will house not only the exhibition space of participating countries, but also the themed pavilions, the structures for major events and the service facilities.

“The Prysmian Group’s involvement in this prestigious project for Expo 2015 is thanks to its technical expertise, quality and ability to deliver customised, high-performance solutions, in confirmation of its market leadership” said Stefano Bulletti, Chief Executive Officer of Prysmian Italy.

The contract, awarded by the German multinational Billfinger Sielv Facility Management, involves supplying 50 km of medium voltage P-Laser cables, a high-performance eco-friendly product made with recyclable raw materials, allowing the environmental impact of networks to be reduced while raising their efficiency and power transmission capacity. In addition to P-Laser, Prysmian Group will also supply 300 km of low voltage cables from its Afumex range, which, in the event of fire, combine reduced flame spread with very low emission of irritant and corrosive gases. All these cables, which will be manufactured at the Group’s Pignataro and Giovinazzo plants in Italy, will be delivered by the end of 2014.
