The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) have announced a two-week extension of the ongoing recruitment exercise for 50,000 police constables nationwide.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the Head of Protocol and Public Affairs of the PSC, Torty Njoku Kalu, in Abuja.
According to the statement, the online application portal, which was opened on December 15, 2025, has now been extended and will close on February 8, 2026.

The commission explained that the extension became necessary due to disparities in the level of participation across states.
It noted that while states such as Adamawa, Benue and Kaduna recorded high numbers of applicants, others including Lagos, Ogun, Bayelsa, Ebonyi and Anambra had comparatively low submissions.
The statement said the extension was aimed at ensuring equitable representation from all parts of the country in the recruitment exercise.
The PSC and NPF therefore urged eligible Nigerians, especially those from states with low application rates, to take advantage of the extended deadline to apply.
“State governments, local government councils, socio-cultural organisations, religious bodies, community leaders and other stakeholders are strongly encouraged to mobilise and sensitise eligible citizens within their jurisdictions to apply before the new deadline,” the statement said.
The PSC and NPF reaffirmed their commitment to conducting a fair, transparent and credible recruitment process.
