Abuja (Federal Project Management Unit Report) – The National Coordinator of the Rural Access and Mobility Project, Ubandoma Ularamu has re-affirmed the commitment of the project to transparent procurement processes in the on-going procurement of Consultants and Contractors for the construction/rehabilitation of 800km first phase of the RAMP II roads in Adamawa, Enugu, Niger and Osun States.
Ubandoma Ularamu made this assurance at the opening ceremony of a two-day training session for Procurement and Finance Management officers organized by the Federal Project Management Unit in collaboration with the World Bank and the French Development Agency at the Nicon Luxury Hotel, Abuja.
The RAMP National Coordinator said that the transparent selection of Consultants and Contractors for this phase of the project is critical towards realizing the project development objectives; maintaining that it will help to build up confidence among the stakeholders as well as assist in the smooth implementation of the actual works. He also tasked the participants to take full advantage of the practical approach adopted by the facilitators to improve themselves, in order to ensure that the best contractors are selected for the jobs.
In his remarks, the Procurement Specialist of the World Bank Country Office in Abuja, Daniel Rigachiki Kajan described the workshop as hands-on sessions aimed at equipping the participants with the necessary skills that will enable them deliver on RAMP’s development objectives.
He pledged the continued support and assistance of the World Bank and its partners towards building the capacity of Nigerians to successfully implement the development initiatives of Government.
The two day workshop was attended by participants from the Federal Project Management Unit and the RAMP II States of Adamawa, Enugu, Niger and Osun.
