In response to an open letter posted on Facebook page of Prince Olufunmi Otulana by one Oseni Oseni titled “Letter to My Dear Honourable Ladi Adebutu“, the News Media Assistant to Hon (Dr) Ladi Adebutu (MHR), Deji Babington-Ashaye has replied with insights and clarifications that catered for the concerns raised by Oseni Oseni. Read the response below:

MY REPLY TO MY DEAR OSENI O. OSENI

While I am the type that is open to suggestions and admonition in whatever guise, I am still the type that hold onto caution before considering such. I sieve well.

I have come to realize that every spectator in the stadium knows how to play soccer and score goals more than the actual players on the field of play. Same with politics. Everybody is a professional politician when he or she has very negligible knowledge of practical politics. Some even claim know how simply because they studied political science in the school. Political science is not the same as practical politics.

Even though I agree that Mr. Oseni’s right of opinion is guaranteed but I beg to disagree with your submissions. To me, the content of your message is not only amateurish but unfamiliar with the terrain of Nigerian politics.

Firstly, I must tell you categorically that the political activities of Hon Ladi in respect of his 2019 ambition are very good and generating the kind of effects that we desire at a particular time. I don’t claim perfection but we are doing fine with more room for improvement. This is 2017, 2018 will surely be different as more strategies will be deployed. We need not run out our energy nor deploy our best at this material time.

May I also inform you that on regular basis, Hon Ladi and his team review strategies and plans. I don’t want to believe you expect him to expose his strategies and plans to his opponents before you can appreciate his efforts. Moreover, I don’t think he needs to impress anybody with his confidential strategies which he unfolds as the moment demands. May I also inform you that unknown to you, Hon Ladi has in place 4 committees that have different spelt out specifications. The members of the committees are advanced political strategists of note, professional politicians, educated and cerebral, modern in political thoughts and ideas, seasoned and tested administrator. At the right time, their blueprints shall be unfolded. We can’t afford to put the cart before the horse as u seem suggesting.

You refer to Yayi and GNI structures as “waxing stronger”. Whatever you meant by that. But u are wrong in your assessment that I can describe as too unfriendly with the reality on ground. Sir, which Yayi do u even refer to? Is it the same Yayi that abandoned his ambition and people in Yewa and ran back to Lagos in 2015? Is it the same Yayi that casts his vote in Lagos till today? Is it Yayi that has all his friends in Lagos and not in Ogun State? Is it the same coward Yayi that runs away from Amosun everytime? Is it the same Yayi that lives permanently in Lagos? Is it the same Yayi that says Ago Iwoye is in Ogun Central? So, how is his structure waxing stronger, which structure? If it is the same Yayi u refer to, I consider it an insult and I refuse your comparison of Yayi with Hon Ladi. They are poles too far apart. Ladi is a local man who has lived his entire life within the locality of Ogun State and knows where the shoe pinches. He is the brave Ogboju Ode that does not run away from animals.

However, for the sake of clarity, Hon Ladi has structures in all the 20 LGs, 3 senatorial districts, 9 federal constituencies and 236 wards in Ogun State. Hon Ladi has been meeting and consulting with all the groups and people possible and its still a continuous exercise. While I challenge you to do your filed work on my claim, kindly give us the structural updates of Yayi in 236 wards.

On media, we are doing very well sir. Hon Ladi’s profile has been on facebook and other social media platform, except you have been deliberately ignoring it. His businesses, activities, political experience, achievements, thoughts, philosophy and legislative functions and scorecard are published and shared regularly for public consumption including in the print and electronic media. Definitely, what I can deduce is that you are restricted to Yayi and APC facebook platforms. What do u expect on such platforms? We are not members of APC. I have written out facebook fora which you can subscribe to or join. It is listed below. Kindly join.

So sir, on media, we are doing well and we will continue to improve on it. We don’t believe in just daily posting of “The man of the people” which you read from Yayi boys. It lacks substance and effect. Any fool can do that.

Lest I forget, while not denying the fact that Hon Ladi graces social functions of political friends and residents who invite him, I must say that your view on that is not only shallow but smack of hatred. Are u saying that Hon ladi must shun social invitations? No sir. Hon Ladi is not a proud person. He associates with all and sundry irrespective of his or her status and the people appreciate him for that. Even Our Lord Jesus Christ attended several functions in His lifetime. Infact, in one, he performed miracle to safe the day when there was no more wine. 95% of the total populace love Dr Ladi for his humility despite being a billionaire. Yayi attends functions only in Lagos. Who will invite him in Ogun State when he knows nobody and nobody knows him.

Hon Ladi’s regards for the youths is exempliary that is why he keeps assisting them to gain employment, empowers them through skills acquisition, provide support where necessary and grants them his attention.

In conclusion, if you desire to be part of the success story in 2019 as you claim, you are free to join the train. Feel free to approach him. Nobody will stop you. I guarantee you that.

Insha Allah, Hon Adebutu will be Ogun State Governor in 2019.
