The management of Code of Conduct Tribunal has refuted a report in the media on the recent invitation of the Honourable Chairman, Code of Conduct Tribunal, by the Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC), which was acting on a petition on alleged ₦1.8 Million paid to the Chairman through his Personal Assistant’s account.
Through a statement issued in refutation, the Tribunal’s management wanted the public to note that the Honourable Chairman like any other Public Officer in Nigeria, is not immune to being invited by Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), or any other institutions with similar mandates, for questioning on issues before them, when his office or person as a public officer is petitioned against.
The statement revealed that the Honourable Chairman of CCT, as a judicial officer, has responded appropriately by honouring the invitation and has made his presentation on the issues.
The statement further said that it is unnecessary and for some selected media to indulge in character assassination of the CCT Chairman on the issue.
