A member of the House of Representatives representing Suleja, Gurara, and Tafa Federal Constituency in Niger State, Hon. Adamu Lokoja, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Lokoja was formally received into the APC by the State Chairman of the party, Aminu Bobi, at the party’s secretariat in Minna on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, the Niger East Zonal Chairman of the APC, Danladi Ahijoh, described Lokoja’s defection as a strategic move and a valuable investment in the political future of the country.

He emphasized that the achievements of the APC-led administration in the state and at the federal level have been major drivers of the growing wave of defections.
“Those who are joining the APC today are doing so because they want to be part of a progressive future. The transformational changes under the APC government are visible and impactful,” Ahijoh said.
Hon. Lokoja becomes one of three lawmakers from Niger State’s 10th Assembly delegation who were initially elected on the platform of the PDP. His defection adds to the recent trend of opposition lawmakers crossing over to the ruling party.
InfoStride News recalls that three PDP federal lawmakers from Katsina State also recently joined the APC, citing prolonged internal crises and lack of cohesion within the PDP as their reasons.
The defection of Rep. Lokoja further underscores the challenges confronting the PDP as it struggles to retain its membership and political influence ahead of future elections.
