Ilkay Gundogan’s agent has come out to hit back at shock claims that the midfielder wants to leave Barcelona and join Turkish giants Galatasaray. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, the recent reports do not reflect the truth at all, and he has not met with anyone from Galatasaray to discuss any potential transfer for his client.

His agent added that Gundogan is very happy at Barcelona, and he is focused on helping his new team.
His words, “The reports in the press these days about Ilkay do not reflect the truth. I did not meet anyone from Galatasaray before the Bayern Munich game to talk about Ilkay. There was no development, meeting, or anything that came to us in this regard. I want to make this clear. Neither I nor Ilkay can understand how this news came about. Ilkay is very happy at Barcelona and is focused on what he wants to achieve there and on his goals.”
WOW.
İlkay Gündoğan is a German professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for La Liga club Barcelona and captains the Germany national team. He is widely recognized as one of the best midfielders in the world for his leading and playmaking skills.
Gündoğan was born in Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia to Turkish parents. His grandfather on his father’s side was a guest worker who moved from Balıkesir, Turkey, to the Ruhr region of Germany to work as a miner. Meanwhile, his wife stayed in Turkey with their children where they grew up and went to school.
On 26 June 2023, La Liga club Barcelona announced the signing of Gündoğan on a free transfer until June 2025, in which he became the 18th German player to join the club, including 11 players before 1915 and most notably Bernd Schuster, Robert Enke and Marc-André ter Stegen.
Gündoğan came to Barcelona after winning the treble as Manchester City captain, becoming a key target for Barça in their quest to defend their La Liga title. Despite wearing the number 14 during pre-season games, he chose 22 for his jersey number, which had been vacated by Raphinha, who moved to the number 11 shirt.
