The Oyo State Government has ordered all political appointees from Governor Seyi Makinde’s first term to immediately return their government-issued vehicles.
The state government advised the former appointees to return the vehicles on or before Friday, 25th August, 2023.
Friday, in a statement signed by Professor Olanike Adeyemo, Secretary to the State Government, the state government issued the directive to the former aides.
According to the statement, the Governor, the Deputy Governor, the Speaker of the House of Assembly and members of the House of Assembly, the Chief Judge of the State and Judges, the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, the Head of Service, the Commissioners, the Permanent Secretaries, the Accountant-General, the Auditors-General, and the Surveyor-General are exempt from the directive.
Gifted automobiles at the governor’s discretion are also excluded, according to the statement.
In addition, it was stated that MDA schedule officers should be presented with documentary evidence from officials who claim to have been granted official vehicles.
In a statement released to the media, Governor Sulaimon Olanrewaju’s Chief Press Secretary Sulaimon Olanrewaju demanded that all unofficial drivers surrender all government vehicles by August 25th, 2023.
“Schedule officers in Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the State Public/Civil Service are mandated to recover official vehicles that have been taken away without due authorisation, if not returned on or before Friday, 25th August, 2023.”
