Declan Rice produced a Steven Gerrard moment with his brace of free-kicks against Real Madrid, Rio Ferdinand has said. He recently had his say while speaking to the press, and fans have been reacting.
According to him, every top footballer needs a stand-out moment that they will be remembered for, and Rice definitely had his Arsenal moment with his performance vs Real Madrid.
Rio added that grabbing an important game by the scruff of the neck like that will do a whole lot for him going forward, confidence-wise.
His words, “Every top player needs a stand-out moment and you go, ‘I remember where I was that day when Declan Rice done that’. He hadn’t had that yet in an Arsenal shirt. This was that moment for him. To then see him grab a game like that… I wonder what that does for him moving forward now. He’s done it. Confidence-wise, it does a lot.”
