Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has admitted to experiencing emotional distress amid the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Fubara made this disclosure while addressing Muslim faithful who paid him a Sallah homage at his private residence.
His remarks follow the state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu, which led to his six-month suspension and the appointment of a sole administrator to oversee the state’s affairs.

The crisis in Rivers State stems from a prolonged power struggle between Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Reflecting on the situation, Fubara said, “We assumed that I might feel a bit depressed because of the situation, maybe because of what we are seeing but might not understand.”
Despite the challenges, he urged supporters to remain steadfast, emphasizing patience and perseverance.
“In this season of sharing, love, and sacrifice, I want you to know that I key into your period of festivals. Our dreams and vision for this state remain that no man should be oppressed.”
He warned against provocations that could lead to violence, stating, “What they want is to destroy this state, create problems, and deny you your means of livelihood. We will not allow it.”
Fubara reassured that his administration would continue to operate peacefully and respect constituted authority to maintain Rivers State as a model for others in Nigeria.
