Rivers State government has announced that it has fully discharged all the 526 contacts under-surveillance of Ebola Virus Disease since the out-break of the Disease in the state. State Commissioner for Health Dr. Tamunoiyoriari Parker stated this while inaugurating the Ebola emergency response teams in Etche and Emouha local government areas to enlighten people on prevention of Ebola. He advised residents in the areas not to be deceived by people who would want to hood wink them into buying fake Ebola drugs and vaccines adding that the Disease has no cure. According to him the State and Federal governments, World Health Organisation, UNICEF, Doctors without Borders, Multinational Organizations and other developmental partners, joined forces to contain the spread of the deadly disease in the state.
Doctor Parker who expressed the need for continuous personal and environmental hygiene said this is a simple, cheap and effective way to prevent Ebola and other diseases.
He thanked President GoodLuck Jonathan, Governor Amaechi and Governor Fashola for demonstrating strong political will and commitment which has translated to the defeat of the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease in Nigeria.
