The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Saturday assured the people of Rivers that they would soon have the opportunity to vote for the candidates of their choice.
Speaking at the Rivers West senatorial rally in Bonny, Amaechi said the people never had the chance of voting for their preferred candidates in 2015 and the March re-run elections because of insecurity.
The minister, represented by the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate in the 2015 elections in the state, Honourable Asita, said that security agencies had given assurances that the electorate would not be denied the opportunity to elect their leaders.
“We will elect all APC candidates into the national and state assemblies to partner with the Federal Government and bring development to the state.
“It is only the APC representatives and leaders that will collaborate with the Federal Government to start NLNG Train Seven, bring Deep Sea Port and commence work on Bodo-Bonny Road,” he said.
“I urge you all not to be afraid. Go and lobby the undecided members of the electorate to vote for all APC candidates. They cannot intimidate you again,’’ he said.
He charged the people to mobilise themselves well because the elections would be peaceful.
