An ex Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim has urged Rochas Okorocha to douse the political tension currently experienced in the state.
The Accord Party’s governorship candidate for Saturday’s election also said Rochas must let the people be rest assured that “he will not indulge in thuggery and brigandage during governorship election.”
Mr Ikedi told INEC to caution its collation officers to not trade their appointment letters to political jobbers for money.
His words, ”Governor Rochas Okorocha must make a statewide broadcast to reduce the political tension in the state.
“The governor must also assure the people that he will not be involved in thuggery and brigandage during the governorship election this Saturday.
“INEC must warn its ad hoc staff, especially returning officers that they must not sell their appointment letters to political jobbers. This election must be peaceful, free, fair credible.
“When I hosted over 7,000 youths in my house few days ago, they assured me that they will protect their votes.
“I observed during the rerun election in Imo North Senatorial District few years ago that some collation officers sold their appointment letters to political jobbers who used them to manipulate the election results.
“INEC must ensure that such a thing does not repeat itself.”
