Super Eagles caretaker coach, Samson Siasia has revealed that he is targeting the maximum six points from Nigeria’s double header in the 2017 African Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt.
Siasia on Thursday, March 3 unveiled his 42-man team for the encounter and his is very confident that the players invited will bing the targeted result.
The 22 home-based players are expected to hit camp at the Bolton White Apartments, Abuja on Sunday, March 6, before the overseas-based pros arrive as from Sunday, March 20.
“I have absolute faith in the players. Nigeria is blessed with so many talented footballers across the world and I know that those we are inviting for this match will give everything for the six points in both matches,” Siasia said at a press conference in Abuja.
“Personally, I will give everything that I have to offer for us to win both matches.”
Nigeria will play the Egypt in Nigeria at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna on Friday, March 25 with the return leg to be played in Alexandria on Tuesday, March 29.
Siasia has called on Nigerians to believe in the team and show their support.
“It will not be easy, but if we stick together and present a united force to fight this battle, I believe we will triumph,” he further said.
Egypt are on top of the group with maximum six points after beating Tanzania at home and Chad away while Nigeria are second with four points after a win and a draw.
