Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on Friday expressed unwavering confidence in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), despite the ongoing leadership crisis plaguing the party.
Saraki made the statement after a meeting of the PDP Strategy and Way Forward Committee, which held in Enugu State. The meeting was attended by Governor Peter Mbah, Senator Seriake Dickson, and Senator Ibrahim Dankwambo.
According to Saraki, the gathering focused on confronting internal challenges and charting a path forward for the PDP.

“We didn’t sidestep the issues. We confronted the fractures in our foundation, asked the hard questions, and began shaping a real, workable plan to move our party forward,” he said in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
“I believe in the PDP. I believe in what it has stood for and what it can still become,” Saraki added, emphasizing the need for collective effort and resilience in rebuilding the party.
The PDP is currently embroiled in a leadership tussle over the position of National Secretary. The controversy involves Senator Samuel Anyanwu and Peter Ude-Okoye, both of whom lay claim to the office.
The crisis erupted when Anyanwu vacated the post to contest the Imo State governorship election, prompting the PDP Southeast Caucus to endorse Ude-Okoye as National Secretary. Following his electoral defeat, Anyanwu returned to reclaim the position, leading to a legal battle.
While the Court of Appeal had previously affirmed Ude-Okoye’s status, the Supreme Court later overturned the judgment, reinstating Anyanwu as the authentic PDP National Secretary.
Despite the turbulence, Saraki expressed optimism: “The road ahead won’t be easy… But I leave Enugu more convinced than ever: we have the people, the resolve, and the clarity to rise to the occasion—and to lead again. #PowerToThePeople.”
