Liberia left the country on Wednesday, for Lesotho where they will engage their counterparts, Lesotho Crocodiles, in the first round, second leg duel of the Orange Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on June 1. The Lone Star worked hard to pin their opponents in the first leg with a score line of 1-0, courtesy of an easy tap in from captain Anthony Snorti Laffor.
Landi’s only new inclusion in the Lone Star squad include Canon Younde based player Trequartista,Myer Galo of Oilers,Chris Momo and top league scorer James Soto Roberts who were all left out by Kojo in the first leg match a fortnight ago.
Meanwhile Lesotho head coach Seephephe Matete told Cafonline.com that he was confident his tiny South African nation will upset Liberia and advance to the second round of the 2015 AFCON first round qualifer despite losing the first leg 1-0 away in Liberia.
“We might have lost with a slim margin away in Liberia but i am confident we can rally our troops and get the needed 2-0 win that will enable us to sail through to the second round of matches .Liberia are very slow in attack and i was happy with the 1-0 score line which is not difficult to overturn as we never wanted to concede many goals”
“It a do or die clash for us and we will fight tooth and nail and despite Liberia being a good team i see light at the end of the tunnel with a win at home as long as we employ tactical and technical awareness “Matete told Cafonline.com in a telephone interview.
Lesotho had had some of the worst results away from home and the entire squad celebrated despite the 1-0 loss on Sunday in Monrovia. Liberia has not qualified for the finals since mali 2002 and needs to hold on to its 1-0 advantage in Maseru next month if it hopes to make it to what could be their third AFCON finals.
