Hosts Senegal wrapped up their preparations for the 2015 Orange CAF U-20 Championship with a lone goal victory over Zambia in a test game last Tuesday (3 March 2015) in Dakar.
Striker Alassane Diouf scored the only goal in the second half to hand the hosts’ victory in their final game ahead of the tournament opener against Nigeria on 8 March 2015.
Earlier, the Senegalese team under the technical guidance of renowned coach, Joseph Koto had earlier beaten South Africa by the same scoreline in a similar assignment. Striker Ibrahim Wadji’s first half strike separated the two sides in the encounter held last Saturday (27 February 2015).
Senegal, hosting a major continental championship since the 1992 Africa Cup of Nations are housed in Group A with Congo, Cote d’Ivoire and Nigeria and will be based in the capital, Dakar.
Ghana, Mali, South Africa and Zambia make up the M’Bour-based Group B.
The semi-finalists will represent Africa at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in June in New Zealand.
