SAN DIEGO, CA–(Marketwired – October 26, 2014) – At ARMA International’s ARMA Live! Annual Conference & Expo today, Sherpa Software and Content Analyst Company announced a technology partnership that will bring powerful machine learning capabilities to information governance initiatives.
Under terms of the agreement, Sherpa will license and embed Content Analyst’s award-winning CAAT® machine learning-based advanced analytics engine into the Sherpa Altitude IG software platform. This alliance will enable information governance professionals to apply IG practices, policies and business processes to electronic files and records based not only on the file attributes, but on the actual contents of the files as well.
“As we continue to enhance and differentiate our evolving Altitude IG platform for the management of electronically stored information, our partnership with Content Analyst will take defensible deletion, retention, search and reporting to entirely new levels,” said Rick Wilson, VP of strategy and solutions at Sherpa Software. “Meta data attributes have typically served as a primary indicator of ESI value for information governance, but applying Content Analyst’s concept-aware, language-agnostic machine learning technology to the actual file contents goes far beyond the tip of the iceberg into the essence of each individual file’s worth to the enterprise.”
Content Analyst’s patented CAAT machine learning-based text analytics engine has been proven in some of the most challenging information management applications and is embedded in dozens of software products spanning eDiscovery, contract lifecycle management, intellectual property research and knowledge management systems in the commercial and government markets. Sherpa is the first information governance solution provider to incorporate the CAAT technology. Sherpa will leverage the unassisted clustering capabilities of CAAT to automatically group conceptually-related ESI. This will allow the Altitude IG platform to more easily identify ROT (redundant, outdated, trivial/transient content) for defensible deletion, and to identify corporate records needed for archiving according to the customer’s corporate records retention policies.
“In order to help corporate clients effectively handle the rapidly-growing volumes and variety of unstructured content, information governance solution providers must adopt new intelligent technologies that automate the processes,” said Kurt Michel, Content Analyst president and CEO. “Sherpa Software’s adoption of the Content Analyst machine learning technology will allow their users to effectively transfer and apply human subject matter expertise to their large collections of unstructured content that must be managed. The addition of our proven, defensible advanced analytics technology will provide Sherpa Software with a true competitive advantage when it comes to classification. We applaud Sherpa for creating a highly-differentiated solution for the information governance market with their Altitude IG product, and we are proud to have the CAAT engine powering their classification capabilities.”
