The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested Musbahu Auwal, a security guard at the National Broadcasting Commission’s (NBC) Zonal Office in Sokoto, for allegedly conspiring with others to steal office materials and equipment.
This was disclosed in a statement on Tuesday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ahmad Rufai.
According to the statement, the incident was reported on January 17, 2025, at about 2:50 PM, by Ladan Muhammad, the Zonal Director of the NBC in Sokoto.

Muhammad reported the theft at the Uguwar Rogo Police Station, stating that unknown persons had stolen items from the Commission’s office in the Gagi area of Sokoto.
Police officers, led by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO), visited the scene and confirmed the theft of several items, including:
- A three-kilovolt inverter
- Three 600-kilovolt inverter batteries
- A fridge compressor
- A brand-new tyre for an office bus
- A 32-inch LG television
Arrests and Recovery of Items
During the investigation, Musbahu Auwal was invited for questioning and confessed to conspiring with Ismaila Ahmad, a resident of the Nakasare area, to steal the items.
Further investigations led to the arrest of:
- Yahuza Tukur and Abdulrahman Abbas, both from the Nakasare area, for concealing the stolen items.
- Basiru Lawali (Kuffa area), Murtala Tijani (Kwanni), and Abubakar Umar (Gangaren Kuffa), who were identified as receivers of the stolen goods.
The police successfully recovered all the stolen items.
Police Commendation
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ahmed Musa, commended the officers involved in the operation and thanked the public for their cooperation. He urged citizens to continue supporting the police to enhance service delivery.
The Commissioner assured the public that the suspects would be diligently prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
