A sanitation court in Sokoto on Saturday sealed six filling stations for flouting the end of the month sanitation exercise.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the affected filling stations included those of major and independent marketers.
The court presided over by Magistrate Shu’aibu Ahmad sentenced the operators of the six filling stations to three months imprisonment each with an option of N10,000 fine.
In the same vein, the court also sentenced 20 motorists arrested to three weeks imprisonment each with an option of N2,000 fine.
Similarly, six shop owners found wanting by the court were sentenced to two months imprisonment each with an option of N5,000 fine.
No fewer than 50 cyclists arrested were sentenced to two weeks imprisonment each with an option of N1,000 fine.
NAN reports that scores of pedestrians, who were arrested, were warned and released by the court.(NAN)
