Sani said that the incident happened about 2a.m on Sunday.

“The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday at the Kofar Marke area of Sokoto city in Sokoto North Local Government Area.

“The boy is in detention though we discovered that he was intoxicated and is not himself at the moment.
    .
“We are waiting for him to regain his consciousness before further investigation,” he said.
    .
Narrating the incident, the pregnant wife of the deceased and mother of the suspect, Malama Fatima Aliyu, said “it all happened on Sunday night at about 2a.m.’’
    .
She said the suspect “met his father on that fateful night at about 2a.m, saying his Nafilat (non-obligatory) prayers and threatened to kill him”.
