Leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-East have issued a stern warning to the party’s national leadership, threatening mass defection over what they described as continued marginalisation.
The warning was issued on Wednesday during the Zonal Executive Committee (ZEC) meeting of the party held in Enugu, where the leaders demanded the immediate recognition of SKE Ude-Okoye as the National Secretary of the PDP.
In a communique issued at the end of the meeting, the South-East PDP leaders declared:

“However, in the event that our position is not promptly implemented by the Party, the South-East PDP, as a family, will be compelled to reconsider our relationship with the PDP going forward.”
The meeting was attended by prominent figures including Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State and the Zonal Chairman, Chief Ali Odefa, among others.
All speakers at the gathering reiterated the collective demand, stressing the region’s unwavering position on Ude-Okoye’s appointment.
They lamented the continuous sidelining of the South-East in key party decisions and warned that failure to address the situation could trigger a mass exodus from the party.
Details of further resolutions from the meeting are expected to follow.
