The newly appointed Minister of Environment, Laurentia Mallam and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Rabi Shuaibu Jimeta have affirmed their commitment to staff welfare as part of measures to boost workers’ morale and enhance their productivity.
They made the commitment recently in the Conference Hall of the Ministry during the handing over ceremony by the out-going Permanent Secretary, Taiye Haruna to the incumbent, Rabi Shuaibu Jimeta.
The Minister said that her priority was to create a good working environment by ensuring good staff welfare. She also noted that adequate incentives to staff will spur them towards optimal performance which is in line with the present administration’s transformation agenda. She stated that no desired achievement will be accomplished without putting staff welfare into consideration. According to her, whatever is due to staff would be given to them and whenever the management is unable to meet their demands, explanations would be advanced immediately.
Laurentia Mallam commended the out-going Permanent Secretary for his dedication and commitment to duty during his tenure in the Ministry and wished him success in his new posting and other endeavours. She welcomed the new Permanent Secretary, Rabi Shuaibu Jimeta and intimated her about the level of commitment to work by the staff of the Ministry; assuring her of unflinching support from the staff. She further enjoined the staff to work as a team to move the Ministry and the country forward.
Earlier in his speech, the out-going Permanent Secretary, Taiye Haruna commended the staff of the Ministry for the support offered to him during his twenty months stay in the Ministry. He appealed to them to extend such hand of fellowship to the new Permanent Secretary, Rabi Shaibu Jimeta.
In his remarks, the new Permanent Secretary assured Taiye Haruna and the staff that she will encourage welfare and hard work. She solicited for cooperation from the entire workforce to enable her achieve the desired goals.
