Actress, Stephanie Okereke Linus on Thursday, March 10, 2016 celebrated her successful outing at the Africa Magic Video Choice Award (AMVCA), winning the Best African Movie Award with fans and family at Genesis Deluxe cinemas, Lekki.
It was a double header being that it was also a time for the screening of her movie ‘Dry’ which is currently getting good reviews from observers.
This happened under the ‘Nolly Thursdays’, a platform which has been described as the new Industry Night for the Nigerian film industry, geared towards promoting and celebrating Nollywood movies (old and new) in the cinema.
It was at the fourth edition of the event that the award winning movie was reviewed among fans and movie industry associates.
Stephanie, who is also now a mother looks like she is quite comfortable handling the responsibilities of being one with her career ambition of being one of the most successful stars ever to grace Nollywood.
She is passionate about a lot of things including girl-child advocacy. She had a few comments to share about 14 years old Ese Oruru, a child who had made headline after being abducted by Yunusa Dahiru in Bayelsa State.
She said, “I’ve been keenly following Ese Oruru’s story on the news for some time now and the turn of events is really shocking, I must say. Different versions of her story keep creeping up in the news. It’s hard to know what to believe anymore.”
“What I find most appalling is some people are blaming her for her predicament. Blaming a 14 year-old girl! For what! She is still a child. It’s even more sad that there are still lots of girls taken from their parents care across the country and sexually abused everyday.”
The child has however been relocated back to her parents’ residence.
