Stephen Okechukwu Keshi has signed a contract with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) as head coach of the Nigerian men’s senior national team, the Super Eagles.
.
Keshi, who first took charge of the Super Eagles in 2011, led the side to unexpected success at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.
.
He also guided the team to a round of 16 finish at the 2014 Fifa World Cup finals in Brazil before his contract lapsed.
.
The ‘Big Boss’ then masterminded Nigeria’s ultimately futile bid to reach the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea but did so on a caretaker basis.
.
On Tuesday, Keshi put pen to paper on a two-year deal which runs out in 2017, bringing an end speculations about his future.
.
Keshi has previously managed Togo and Mali. He qualified Togo for their first and only World Cup finals appearance in 2006.
.
The 53-year-old trainer, who captained Nigeria’s national team for 19 years, earned 64 caps for the Super Eagles between 1981 and 1995.
