Obafemi Awolowo University has been on strike again after the Non-Academic Staff Union of the school closed down the gate and paralysed all lecture activities on campus. The action started early Monday morning after the members of the union barred the commercial buses shuttling the campus from entering the university community.
Students of the university, however, could not bear the chance of missing lectures since the strike action did not include the academic members. Meanwhile, this turned newly dramatic after the students went on jumping spree by scampering the barricade made by the members of the union.
The strike action was called on to protest for the dividends and unpaid salaries. The action, however, has not only included shutting the power of the university down, but also extended to shortage of water supply. With the members on the rage to press their demand home, private cars have been blocked from entering the campus and most lecturers have been unable to channel their ways to school as all other shortcut roads have been blocked.
Presently, most lectures on campus have been unable to hold as students are still locked outside the gate of the schools, and most offices are still locked up.
